Fishing wild brown trout in the River Rother

The Rother runs through the heart of West Sussex. Rising in Liss, it flows through Petworth and on to Pulborough, where it joins the Arun, eventually running out to sea at Littlehampton.

Why choose the River Rother for fishing lessons?

The River Rother has about three miles of prime fly-fishing, passing though beautiful English countryside. It has a natural head of wild brown trout and Sea trout regularly running the length of the river. In addition, the river is stocked with about 1,200 mature brown trout.

The emphasis is on privacy and seclusion, and traditionally there are a very small group of members. The river is lightly fished and often only one or two members are seen on the whole river and on many days none at all.

There is ample parking over the length of the river and crossing bridges afford access to most of the water.

The season is from the 3rd April to 31st October and fishing for grayling during the winter is allowed on application to the Estates Fisheries Bailiff.

Guest tickets are available for members.
